A POEM AS BIG AS NEW YORK CITY is a delightful book-length poem that spreads the wonder and joy that is New York, as told through the words of its young people.
As part of an unprecedented series of T&W poetry workshops, New York City children and teens were challenged to write about what it was like to live, learn, and play in New York City. The poems were collected and edited into this book, published by Universe (an imprint of Rizzoli New York). Their words provide readers of all ages an honest, kid’s-eye view of the melting pot of cultures, ideas, and excitement found within the five boroughs of New York City.
Lyrical, heartfelt, and bursting with imagination, A POEM AS BIG AS NEW YORK CITY proves that a poem can be as vast and exciting as the greatest city in the world.

From Medusa To The Sky: Teaching Writing To Children With Special Needs
A new eBook edition! The exercises in From Medusa To The Sky grew out of Teachers & Writers Collaborative’s long history of providing creative writing programs for students in New York City’s District 75 schools and classrooms, which serve students with special learning needs.
First published in 2001, Medusa has proved to be a favorite resource for teaching artists—writers working in K–12 schools—as well as classroom teachers. Although the exercises were developed by Teachers & Writers Collaborative teaching artists who taught special needs students, the ideas in this book have been used as a starting point for lesson plans to engage a variety of young learners in imaginative writing.
