DuEwa M. FrazierDuEwa M. Frazier is a poet, writer, performance artist, author, educator, and speaker. Raised in St. Louis, Missouri, DuEwa earned the BA in English at Hampton University in Virginia. She is the author of the acclaimed inspirational volume of poetry Shedding Light From My Journeys (Lit Noire Publishing) and the founder/CEO of Lit Noire Publishing, a creative arts and publishing company. Through her company, DuEwa has given numerous consultations for writers and entrepreneurs in the areas of self-publishing and public relations. DuEwa has produced performance and literary events in New York City such as Word Canvas and Sisters of Creativity for Positive Hip Hop events. Her poetry has been published in Essence. Lyrical Times, PW Review, Voice, Signifyin’ Harlem Literary Journal, Drumvoices Revue (SIUE), Black Arts Quarterly (Stanford University), African, and others. She has performed for diverse audiences at venues, festivals, and colleges such as the University of Pennsylvania, Madison Square Garden Theater, Bowery Poetry Club, Medgar Evers College, Nuyorican Poet’s Café, Temple University, Bar 13/Louder Arts, National Black Arts Theater, Museum of Afro-American Artists(Boston), Bohemian Caverns(DC), Club Divinity (St. Louis), Wordstock International Poetry and Music Festival, and many others. She has shared stages with notable artists such as Ursula Rucker, Abiodun Oyewole (The Last Poets), M1(dead prez), Sonia Sanchez, Haki Madhubuti, actress Hazelle Goodman, and others. In August 2004 she performed her one woman dramatic play Flash Feminity and has future plans of staging the play. As a journalist her hip hop editorials have featured in Allhiphop.com, DaveyD.com, GlobalBlackNews.com and Final Call newspaper. In 2003 she was nominated for “Poet of the Year” by Spokenvizions magazine. She has taught English, creative writing, drama, and GED preparation for youth and adults. She resides in Brooklyn, New York.
