Caron was born, raised, and currently resides in NYC.
Caron’s first picture book for children, Stuck with the Blooz, was published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in fall 2012. Her short story “Permission Slip,” published in Fence magazine and listed in The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2010, will appear in Fraudulent Artifacts, a new anthology from W.W. Norton. Her story “A Whole Other” can be found in Persea Books’ anthology for teens, Sudden Flash Youth. Caron’s plays have been voted Audience Favorite at the Estrogenius Festival and selected for the Samuel French OOB Festival.
Caron hopes to coax out courage and curiosity in all her students. She has been working with kids and arts education for more than ten years. She uses creative writing, drama, and storytelling to teach self-awareness, communication, and literacy skills to kids of all ages, teachers, and parents. She is an assistant teacher in The New School’s MFA program and the writing coach for the Writers-in-Performance workshop at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center, and she loves teaching her original workshop, “Stage-to-Page: acting techniques for writers.”
Caron has a BA from Tufts University and an MFA in creative writing for children and young adults from The New School University, and she has studied acting at the Moscow Art Theatre in Russia. She has taken part in teaching artist professional development programs with the Association of Teaching Artists and New York State Alliance for Arts Education, Community-Word Project, and Marquis Studio.
Caron has taught herself to like tomatoes, not to be afraid of handstands, and would like to learn Russian and find out more about turtles. www.caronlevis.com
