She has been teaching writing workshops to teenagers for seven years at many different schools and organizations, including the YWCA, Sarah Lawrence College, the Neutral Zone, and Eliada Homes for Children. Recognition came early in her teaching career in 2007 with a Work Award from Warren Wilson College for the poetry workshops she organized and facilitated.
One of Arhm’s specialties is to combine performance and poetry into a platform for building self-confidence, leadership skills, and community engagement. She strives to teach a diverse range of literature, and to cultivate a love of learning through a love of language. She has been trained at writing centers at two different universities, and believes in teaching grammar so that students can learn the effects of following and breaking the rules. Her greatest achievement so far has been to finish her poetry manuscript, and be a finalist for the Poets & Writers Amy Award.
