Frank—actor, playwright, stage director, teaching artist—uses theories of multiple intelligences to teach theater arts and creative writing to students of all ages across the curriculum. As an educator and artist-in residence, he has taught his programs with gifted, special education, visually-impaired and at-risk youth.
Frank is the recipient of the Arts Award for outstanding Performing Artist and Arts Educator for Westchester County. The award is the Westchester Arts Council’s most prestigious, recognizing individuals and organizations whose vision, commitment, and leadership enrich Westchester, its communities, and its citizens. Past honorees include Nelson Rockefeller, Ruby Dee, Ossie Davis, and Renata Scotto
Frank has conducted residencies in the areas of social studies, science, language arts, creative writing, poetry, playwriting, and scriptwriting. In addition, he conducts staff development workshops empowering teachers with creative skills for the classroom. For Mt. Sinai Hospital’s Adolescent Health Center, he used theater, improvisation, and writing as tools to teach health issues to adolescents. Frank has also directed and consulted for many high school theater productions.
As an actor, he has appeared in numerous stage productions regionally and Off Broadway and has had recurring television roles on The Equalizer, The Guiding Light, and One Life to Live. Frank has directed many stage musicals and concerts and has also written, directed, and produced the NY Cable Follies, a musical satire of the year’s events in the cable industry, performed for TV network executives from Time-Warner, Disney Channel, and HBO.
Frank is the writer and performer of his most recent work entitled Blood Type: RAGU, a one-man play based on his experiences growing up first-generation Italian-American in which he portrays more than 20 characters. In 2009 the show enjoyed a critically-acclaimed Off-Broadway run at the Actors Playhouse and is now preparing for a national tour. Frank also serves on the faculty at SUNY, Purchase, where he teaches acting. He is fluent in Italian and holds a BA in theater arts in education from SUNY, Empire State College.
