Ibi is a writer, educator, and researcher of world mythology. Her short stories have been published in the award-winning Dark Matter: Reading the Bones; African Voices Magazine; the highly acclaimed Haiti Noir (Akashic Books), edited by Edwige Danticat; The Caribbean Writer; Crossed Genres; and Anansesem. As an advocate of girls’ empowerment programs, Ibi has been a mentor for Girls Write Now and a teacher about female archetypes in world mythology to young women in the Sadie Nash Leadership Project. The Brooklyn Arts Council recently funded her original program, the Daughters of Anacaona Writing Project, which offers writing workshops for teen girls in Brooklyn and Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Ibi has also written two novels for teens.
