Lee spent her early years in Berkeley, California, and Northern Israel. While studying at Haifa University, she taught theater and literary arts as conflict mediation tools in a program for Muslim, Jewish, and Christian youth. She’s performed, written, and directed shows with theater companies in the US, Israel, and Europe. In addition to an MFA in creative writing from Mills College, Lee holds a law degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and practiced as a civil rights lawyer for five years before returning to the arts. Certified in Amherst Writers & Artists Method (www.amherstwriters.com), Lee has taught people ages 5 to 85 in venues from homeless shelters to private retreats in the California wine country, and at institutions including Brooklyn College and Mills College.

Recent awards include the Sozopol Fiction Seminar Fellowship (2011), residencies at Ragdale and Art Farm (2011), and The Undiscovered Voices Prize from The Writers Center at University of Maryland (2010). For now, Lee lives in New York City, and teaches English at Borough of Manhattan Community College. Her first novel, The Flight of the Lesser Kestrel, set primarily in Jerusalem during the first Lebanon War, is forthcoming.
