Maya Pindyck is the author of Friend Among Stones, a collection of poems published by New Rivers Press, and the chapbook, Locket, Master, which received a Poetry Society of America Chapbook Fellowship. Her poems have been widely published in such places as Poets & Artists, Sycamore Review, Bellingham Review, Mississippi Review, and Tusculum Review. She is the recipient of fellowships from Squaw Valley’s Community of Writers, the Vermont Studio Center, and the Drisha Institute.
A former New York City Teaching Fellow, she has taught English and creative writing in the public school system for over four years. She currently teaches critical writing and reading skills to inner-city high school students through Sponsors for Educational Opportunity. Maya earned her MFA in Creative Writing from Sarah Lawrence College, her MA in Education from Brooklyn College, and her BA in Philosophy and Fine Arts from Connecticut College. She lives in Brooklyn.
